Languages - Interpreting and translating

We provide translation and interpretation services in over 200 languages. We can also arrange for British Sign Language interpreters.

We can offer services to other public organisations. We have provided services for Harrow Social Services, and voluntary groups in the borough.

Prices

Translations

• Translation/typeset charge per 1000 words - £175.00.
• Minimum charge £40.00 up to 200 words.
• Minimum charge for legal documents £60.00 (depending on language and number of words).

Interpreting

• Face to face interpreting £35 per hour. There is a minimum charge of one hour for the first hour. Subsequent charges are made for every additional 15 minutes.
• Bookings after 5.30 pm will be charged £52.50 ph (being time and a half).
• Weekends are charged at £70 ph (being double time).
• £25 per hour travel time will be charged depending on where the interpreter is travelling from, or if the meeting takes place outside of Brent or Harrow. If this charge applies, we will let you know when a booking is made.
• A £35 minimum charge will apply to cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice.
• Telephone interpreting £35 per hour. A minimum charge of 30 minutes (£17.50) applies.

Travel time
Is charged for certain languages at £25.00 per hour. It is also charged if the venue is outside of Brent or Harrow. This is to be confirmed with the officer at the time of the booking. 
 

Rates for registered qualified British Sign Language interpreters:

• Minimum 2 1/2 hour charge £87.50 (depending on the available interpreter).
• Subsequent hour £35.00
   

A minimum of 24 hours notice is required to cancel a booking. Bookings that are cancelled less than 24 hours before the appointment time will incur full cancellation fee of £35.00.

A minimum of 7 days notice is required to cancel a BSL booking. Bookings that are cancelled with less than 7 days' notice will be incur the full fee.
 

Court

If you have to attend court our staff have the skills and understanding to translate and interpret complex legal language.

Conferences

We can provide interpreters for conferences and also whispered interpreting.

Sign language, Braille and audio tape
We can arrange for qualified sign language communicators for one-to-one situations. Braille, audio tape or large print can also be provided. Prices quoted on request.
